Two separate fire incidents rattled Howrah late Wednesday night, causing panic among residents. The first incident occurred at the Jenji Printing Factory on Gopal Ghosh Lane in Salkia. A fire broke out on the second floor of the three-storey building, quickly spreading to about two and a half thousand square feet. Four fire brigade vehicles were dispatched to the scene, and after two hours of intense effort, the fire was successfully brought under control. Fortunately, despite damage to the factory, there are no reported casualties. The fire department pointed out the absence of a firefighting system in the factory, emphasizing the importance of such safety measures.
In the second incident, a massive fire engulfed a cotton warehouse at 29/41, JN Mukherjee Road in Bandhaghat around 8:50 in the morning. The 2,000 square feet warehouse suffered significant damage, with three fire tenders working for four hours to bring the blaze under control. Miraculously, there were no reported casualties in this incident as well. Investigations are underway to determine the cause of both fires, while concerns are raised regarding the lack of firefighting systems in such establishments.
